Access Worldwide Data Protection and
Privacy Policies
US and EU authorities regulate privacy protection in different
manners. In order to bridge these different privacy approaches
and provide a streamlined means for U.S. organizations
to comply with the European Commission’s 1998 Directive
on Data Protection, the U.S. Department of Commerce in
consultation with the European Commission developed a "safe
harbor" framework. The safe harbor — approved
by the EU in July of 2000 — is an important way for
U.S. companies to avoid experiencing interruptions in their
business dealings with the EU or facing prosecution by
European authorities under European privacy laws.
The DMA has developed The DMA Safe Harbor Program to assist
those companies that wish to comply with the Safe Harbor
enforcement requirements by providing an independent third-party
dispute resolution mechanism.
Access Worldwide is a certified member of the DMA Safe
Harbor Program. Our customers in the United States and
Europe can feel secure that we comply with the strict privacy
protection requirements defined by the European Commission.
