Resumption of Mail Service to Guatemala
April 25, 2019
Effective April 6, 2019, the U.S. Postal Service™ restored mail service to Guatemala.
This restoration follows the recent announcement by Guatemala’s designated postal operator, Correos y Telégrafos, that it is once again accepting inbound international mail after a two-year hiatus.
The former suspension had disrupted the following USPS services; PMEI, PMI, FCMI, FCPIS, IPA, and ISAL.
As of April 6, 2019, Postal Service employees are to resume acceptance of all classes of mail to Guatemala.
The sender may remail any item that meets all of the following characteristics:
- Has existing postage.
- Was returned due to the suspension of service.
- Did not bear a customs declaration form (because it did not contain goods).
When remailing under this option, the sender must cross out the marking “Mail Service Suspended — Return to Sender.”
