Canadian House Passes Back-To-Work Legislation for Canada Post

November 26, 2018

Canada Posts Negotiations 2018

The Canadian House of Commons passed a bill on Friday which would force the Canadian Union of Postal Workers back to work.  The Canadian Senate is expected to hear the final debates at 2:00 PM ET this afternoon with a vote early this evening unless amendments or other factors slow down the process.  If the bill is passed it could force the union back to work by Tuesday.

Canada Post and CUPW have both stated they are still in negotiations and hope to achieve an agreement before the bill’s passage.  CUPW is also working with the National Executive Board to explore all the options available to them in light of the legislation.
